Can I use the sides casting sent me?
Yes. Import your PDF, including watermarked sides, then review the dialogue and characters. Choose your role and let the automated reader take the other parts while the app records your take. Your first script import is free.
How does the reader know when to speak?
The reader speaks the other characters’ dialogue and uses speech recognition to follow your lines and advance the scene. On-screen cues help you track whose turn it is. Try a rehearsal take to get comfortable with the pacing.
What if a line is assigned to the wrong character?
Review the imported script before recording. You can correct character assignments and edit the detected characters so the reader knows which lines belong to you.
What can I try for free?
Your first import of your own sides is complimentary. You can also record and export the ten included practice scenes as often as you like, with included reader voices and no subscription or import credits. Sign-in is required. Browse the free scenes.
Does the app upload my recorded videos?
No. SelfTape Studio records and saves your takes on your device. You decide what to export or share. Importing your own sides uses server-side processing for parsing and voice generation; that is separate from recording your video. Read the privacy policy.
Is it available for iPhone and Android?
Yes—SelfTape Studio is available on iOS and Android. Both include the free practice library, role selection, reader voices, turn indicators, and recording tools. Independent adjustment of the reader in saved videos is currently an iOS feature; audio controls and storage behavior differ by platform.
