Selftape Studio is a mobile application owned and operated by Filetrack Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Selftape Studio app (the “App”) and related services (the “Service”), how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using the Service you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Apple ID credentials -When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple-provided user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name and email address.
- Script content -PDF scripts you import are transmitted to our server for generative parsing. The extracted text is returned to your device and stored locally.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device information -Device model, operating system version, and app version.
- Usage data -Features used, session duration, and general interaction patterns to help us improve the App.
- Purchase information -Subscription status and credit balances managed through Apple’s In-App Purchase system.
1.3 Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not access or store your video recordings. All recorded self-tapes are saved locally to your device’s Photos library.
- We do not collect audio from the microphone during speech recognition. Speech recognition runs on-device via Apple’s APIs.
- We do not collect location data.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide the Service -Parse scripts, generate text-to-speech audio, manage your account and subscriptions.
- Improve the App -Analyze usage patterns to fix bugs and develop new features.
- Communicate with you -Respond to support inquiries and send important service updates.
- Legal compliance -Fulfill legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- OpenAI -Script text is sent to our server, which proxies requests to OpenAI’s API for script parsing and text-to-speech generation. Only the text content necessary to perform these functions is transmitted. We do not send personal identifiers to OpenAI.
- Apple -Handles authentication (Sign in with Apple) and payment processing (In-App Purchases) under Apple’s own privacy policies.
- Legal requirements -We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of Filetrack Inc. and its users.
4. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including:
- TLS encryption for all data in transit between the App and our servers.
- Script content is processed ephemerally on our server -we do not persistently store your scripts on our servers after parsing is complete.
- Authentication credentials are stored securely using the iOS Keychain.
While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Retention
- Scripts and recordings -Stored locally on your device only. Deleting the App or the files removes them.
- Account data -Retained while your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.
- Server-side processing -Script text sent for parsing is processed in real time and is not retained on our servers.
6. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us at support@selftapestudio.com and we will delete it promptly.
7. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
- Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”);
- Restrict or object to certain processing;
- Data portability -receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format;
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent;
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights:
- Right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose;
- Right to delete your personal information;

- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights.

9. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our servers are located. If you are accessing the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to the US. We rely on standard contractual clauses and other appropriate safeguards for transfers from the EEA/UK.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, through in-app notifications. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
