Privacy Policy

SelfTape Studio is a mobile application owned and operated by Filetrack Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the SelfTape Studio app (the “App”) and related services (the “Service”), how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using the Service you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

• Account information -You sign in with an email address and a one-time code. We receive your email address and any name you provide. On iOS, Sign in with Apple remains available for existing Apple-linked accounts; when used, we receive the Apple-provided account identifier and any name or email address you choose to share.
• Sides content -PDF sides you import are transmitted to our server for generative parsing. The extracted text is returned to your device and stored locally.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Device information -Device model, operating system version, and app version.
• Usage data -Features used, session duration, and general interaction patterns to help us improve the App.
• Purchase information -Subscription status, purchase records and import-credit balances. Purchases are processed through Apple’s In-App Purchase system on iOS or Google Play Billing on Android, and entitlements are confirmed with our server.

1.3 Recordings, Speech Recognition and Free Practice

• Recordings -The App processes camera and microphone input on your device to record your self-tape. Saved takes are stored in Photos on iOS and in the App’s local storage on Android. The App does not automatically upload recorded videos to SelfTape Studio’s servers. Copies you export or share, and any device or Photos cloud-sync services you enable, are handled by those destinations.
• Speech recognition -Microphone audio is also processed to follow your turn and recognize stop phrases. On iOS, the App uses Apple’s speech-recognition APIs and requests on-device recognition for actor cues when supported; recognition is not guaranteed to remain on-device, and audio may be sent to Apple. See Apple’s speech-recognition privacy information. On Android, cue recognition uses a local Vosk model when available; there is no network speech-recognition fallback in the App. Without that model, silence detection and manual controls remain available.
• Included practice scenes -Practice scenes and their fixed AI-generated reader audio are bundled with the App. Playing those scenes does not request new voice generation or consume import credits. Account, purchase and usage features may still communicate with our servers.
• We do not collect location data.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide the Service -Parse sides, generate text-to-speech audio, manage your account and subscriptions.
• Improve the App -Analyze usage patterns to fix bugs and develop new features.
• Communicate with you -Respond to support inquiries and send important service updates.
• Legal compliance -Fulfill legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• OpenAI -Sides content is sent to our server, which proxies requests to OpenAI’s API for sides parsing and text-to-speech generation. Imported sides may themselves contain names or other personal information.
• Apple -Handles Sign in with Apple for existing Apple-linked accounts, iOS purchase processing and Apple speech-recognition services, under Apple’s own privacy policies.
• Google -Handles Android purchases through Google Play Billing under Google’s own privacy policies. Google account sign-in is not an App sign-in option.
• Legal requirements -We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of Filetrack Inc. and its users.

4. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including:

• TLS encryption for all data in transit between the App and our servers.
• Sides content is processed ephemerally on our server -we do not persistently store your sides on our servers after parsing is complete.
• Sign-in session information is stored in the iOS Keychain on iOS and in private application storage on Android.

While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Retention

• Local sides and recordings -The App stores imported scripts and working recording files on your device. On iOS, saved takes in Photos remain after you delete the App and must be deleted separately. On Android, uninstalling the App removes its private local data; copies you have exported or shared are separate and must be managed at their destination. Deleting an account does not itself delete local recordings, Photos items or exported copies.
• Account data -Retained while your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the App by tapping the account menu (person icon) and selecting “Delete Account.” You may also request deletion by emailing support@selftapestudio.net. Upon deletion, your server-side account record, usage history, and any stored personal data are permanently removed within 30 days. Locally stored sides and recordings on your device are not affected; you can delete those separately.
• Server-side processing -Sides text sent for parsing is processed in real time and is not retained on our servers.

6. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us at support@selftapestudio.net and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you;
• Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
• Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”);
• Restrict or object to certain processing;
• Data portability -receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format;
• Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent;
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights:

• Right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose;
• Right to delete your personal information;
• Right to correct inaccurate personal information;
• Right to opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share your data);
• Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights.

Categories of information collected: identifiers (email address, account identifier and, for Apple-linked accounts, Apple-provided identifier); internet/network activity; device information; commercial information (purchase history).

9. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our servers are located. If you are accessing the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to the US. We rely on standard contractual clauses and other appropriate safeguards for transfers from the EEA/UK.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, through in-app notifications. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
